Our doors are always open. Corrin can arrange permanent session changes and Toni is able to book in extra sessions on your behalf. Exploring lots of our sensory toys this week. The Babies have been exploring their hand-held mirrors, sensory light up cog board, sensory texture tubes and their light up board.
The Babies have also been building towers and exploring their Royal Family/London interest tray.
Next week the Babies will be……
Using conkers to create Autumnal paintings. If you see any conkers when on any walks this weekend, please do bring these into nursery next week.
The Babies will also be exploring squishy paint to develop their interest in textures whilst creating an Autumn tree as well as exploring a range of different coloured cooked pasta.
This week the Toddlers have been exploring different textures and learning new words such as ‘squishy, soft, hard, slimy’ as well as learning about facial features using the song ‘head shoulders knees and toes. They have also been going on an animal hunt around the nursery developing their observational and counting skills.
Next week we will be……
The Toddlers will be learning about different types of vehicles and their sounds and using these in a variety of ways during play. They will also be creating their own recipes and learning about various foods through a baby's picnic role play.
Developing their fine motor skills when making playdough hedgehogs with glitter and spaghetti. They have been threading cheerios and have been practicing their cutting skills using the scissors. They have also taken part in a range of Autumn craft activities such as leaf printing.
The 2-3’s story of the week has been ‘Squasherella’.
Next week we will be... Next week we will be making vegetable Halloween potions exploring scents.
We will continue to learn about the changes that Autumn brings to our natural world. We will also be developing our gross motor skills when climbing on our apparatus outside.
Their book of the week will be: Ten Little Pumpkins.

Our Phonics focus have been… Literacy / Phonics: Aspect 6 – Voice sounds
The children have been exploring the initial sounds of words by arranging a range of objects into groups of the following sounds, s,a,t,p,I,n. We have also been trying to create our very own alliterative story such as, Simon the snake, slide down the slide!

The children have also been using their talking conversation toy phones to develop their speech and listening skills, creating marks on their new light up mark making board, recording their favourite songs on their sound buttons, and using their new dinosaur puppets to begin to interact imaginatively with their peers.

Continuing to explore a range of natural objects to continue developing our number sense and subitizing as well as exploring the heights of ourselves and our sunflower!
As well as taking part in STEM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) such as exploring our sunflowers to share what we notice. The children seemed to really enjoy investigating the sunflower and its seeds.

Exploring our emotions in a variety of ways. Such as using emotion rollers within playdough, using scissors to cut spaghetti to pretend we are cutting hair, exploring our sensory tent and developing our imaginative play skills by playing in our dinosaur valley!

Literacy / Phonics: Aspect 5 – Oral Blending
It is so important for the children to have plenty of experience of listening to adults modelling oral blending before they are introduced to grapheme and phoneme correspondences.
Therefore, at nursery we are practicing our oral blending words such as c-u-p at snack times and h-a-t when putting on our outdoor clothing for the garden.

Continuing to explore our amazing environment to develop our number sense. By using our computer to explore Number Street, interacting with a range of number stories, natural objects and describing what we can see in our curiosity cube!
Our topic focus will be...
Exploring and learning about space and Astronomy to celebrate Astronomy Day and World Space Week in a variety of ways. Such as sharing the story ‘What Ever Next,’ taking part in a craters on the moon experiment and a bubbling planet experiment and creating their own rockets.
The children will also be continuing their development of everything Autumnal by creating Autumnal trees using paints and broccoli!
