Scarlet Fever, Strep-A & Norovirus Virus
We have had two confirmed cases of Scarlet Fever within our 2-3’s Age Group, as well as a case which has been described as ‘border line’ and therefore is being treated as a precaution. Within the same age group we have had two other children who have present viral rashes this week. These have been checked by GP’s who are happy these are not Scarlet Fever. If you would like some more information on Scarlet Fever please use the link below:

Baby Unit:
We also have ear infections, conjunctivitis and gastroenteritis within our Baby Unit.
Norovirus:
As you know we have received an email from Hertfordshire County Council regarding high number of Norovirus cases being reported in the community and outbreaks occurring in nurseries, and care homes.
Norovirus is easily transmitted through contact with people with the infection and any surfaces or objects which have been contaminated with the virus. Symptoms include sudden onset of nausea, projectile vomiting and diarrhoea but can also include a high temperature, abdominal pain and aching limbs.
What to do to stop the spread:
Exclude the infected individual until 48 hours after symptoms have stopped and they are well enough to return to their usual day to day activities. Encourage hand hygiene using soap and warm water. Alcohol hand gels are not effective against norovirus. Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces frequently using bleach- based cleaning products.
We currently have no confirmed cases of Norovirus at Wonderland.
Children’s Identification Cards
Please can we ask all parents to attach their child’s Identification Cards to their nursery bags?
Each and every child who attends Wonderland should have an Identification Card for themselves. If your child does not have an identification card, please let a member of the Management Team know.

The Babies have been...
Continuing to explore our Sensory Room and their Black and White Areas this week. The babies have been crawling into the den and pulling themselves up onto the colour tubes and using their hands to interact with our colour sound board. The babies have also been exploring their Black and White Area with interest. Using their hands, mouths and feet to investigate the different objects.
During their Signing Sam session this week the babies fed Poppy mouse some cheese and explored signs linked to transport through songs such as ‘Wheels on the Bus’ and ‘Row Row Row your boat.’
Next week we will be...
Exploring pancakes whilst investigating a Pancake tuff tray, creating their very own pancakes using playdough and continuing to practice their walking skills!

The Toddlers have been...

Pre-school – The 3-5’s
Our topic is – Following our children’s individual interests
Our Literacy focus has been…
Continuing to develop their finger muscles in a range of ways, such as mark making using our sensory boards, exploring playdough to create the Easter Bunny’s Home and using felt tips and stencils to explore recognition. The children have also been identifying hidden letters and petals within the water tray.
The children have also continued to explore the following books:
The Lorax, Look inside Space, My Very First Book of Space
Our Mathematical focus has been...
Exploring a variety of loose parts to explore their properties. This will later underpin the children’s knowledge of shape.
Our STEM activities this week have been…..
Baking our very own bread and biscuits. The children made a list of the ingredients they will need and then had a go at measuring out these ingredients. The children then used a variety of tools and equipment to manipulate their dough, as well as developing their finger muscles. The children then decorated their biscuits and were very proud of their achievements!
During their outside play, the children are continuing to show lots of interest in creating a range of obstacle courses. This week the children used a variety of resources to develop their balancing skills.
