Being Healthy

Our catering team prepares every meal on site, using locally sourced, seasonal produce and upholding exemplary standards of food safety and hygiene. Children are offered water with their meals and throughout the day, with milk provided during snack times.

Our nursery chef is available to meet with parents at our annual parents’ evenings, where families may also sample dishes from our menus.

Children regularly enjoy hands-on cooking experiences, and they take great pride in planting, tending, and harvesting herbs and seasonal vegetables in our nursery garden.

Nutrition At Our Nursery

At Wonderland Day Nursery, we are committed to providing wholesome, nutritious food within a positive and supportive environment that encourages healthy eating habits. Our approach to nutrition is guided by current government recommendations, and we remain attentive to updates, including the latest guidance on safe eating practices and nutrition standards.

Our team regularly reviews and refines our menus to ensure they are balanced, appealing, and in line with national standards for early years settings. We also focus on creating enjoyable mealtime experiences, helping children learn about food in meaningful and age-appropriate ways.

All our policies and practices are informed by trusted guidance and recognised best practice within the early years sector. As this guidance evolves, so too will our provision, enabling us to maintain the high standards families expect from our nursery.

We look forward to keeping you informed about our ongoing work in early years nutrition and to working closely with you to nurture positive, healthy habits in all the children in our care.
