If you would like a catch up with your child’s key carer at any time or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate in giving a member of the Management Team an email to arrange this. Our doors are always open. Corrin can arrange permanent session changes and Toni is able to book in extra sessions on your behalf. Staff Changes at Wonderland
It is with a very heavy heart that we must share with you, our lovely Sophie Hills – Senior Baby Room Lead is leaving Wonderland on Friday 7th October for a career break. Sophie has worked at Wonderland for 12 years and has worked tirelessly over this time to ensure the children in her care and her staff member’s flourish. I am sure you will join us all in thanking Sophie for all of her hard work, laughs and smiles over the years, we will miss her greatly.
We will also be saying goodbye to our lovely Denise – Catering Assistant for the last 5 years, as she moves onto a new challenge in her career. Denise will be leaving Wonderland during the middle of October. We thank her so much for her hard work, dedication, and yummy cooking over the last 5 years, we will miss her lots and wish her well in her new challenge.
We are pleased to be able to share with you all, Katie Graham will be returning to Wonderland as the Deputy Team Leader of our Toddler Age Group. Katie will be returning to Wonderland on Wednesday 19th October. We are very excited and can’t wait to have Katie back at Wonderland.
We are changing the way we would like you to communicate with us regarding increasing, decreasing and requesting changes to your child’s permanent nursery sessions.

Please can we ask if your child has borrowed any spare clothing from Wonderland that this is returned to nursery. We try to ensure we have enough spare clothing here in a variety of sizes but seem to be running low in trousers. If you have any spares or donations at home, please do let us know.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we had to remove all soft toys from the nursery. However now we are in a place where these can be reinstated here at Wonderland, we are running low!
If you have any well-loved cuddly toys in need of a new home, please do let us know.
We will happily take these off your hands.
Exploring their sensory tent, using their hands to identify bumpy, soft and shiny objects.
Rice cake and Weetabix play as well as decorating pictures for jeans for Genes day.
Next week the Babies will be……
Continuing to explore their wonderful environment selecting what they wish to explore. As well as taking part in their Signing Sam sessions and Autumnal tuff trays.
Developing their symbolic animal noises through their play whilst exploring their amazing texture trays. The Toddlers have also been making marks in a range of ways such as using cars to drive across paper, creating handprints and using bingo dabbers.
Next week we will be……
Going on a Gruffalo Hunt, exploring shape sorting and developing our independence skills through changing toy baby nappies and feeding them.
Tracing numbers and letters with stickers, creating leaf printings as well as exploring a variety of tuff trays, dinosaur world and animal world!
The 2-3’s story of the week has been, The Gruffalo.
Next week we will be... Creating Autumnal portraits and exploring measuring using nonstandard units to see how tall they are!

Our Phonics focus have been… Literacy / Phonics: Aspect 6 – Voice sounds
The children have been continuing to develop their ability to distinguish between vocal sounds as well beginning to have a go at oral blending and segmenting.
The children have also been recording their own voices using our sound buttons and encouraging our peers to guess who has left the message.
The children have also been sharing a story all about Autumn – ‘Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn.’

Our Mathematical focus has been... Taking part in a range of small group games to develop our awareness of turn taking, colour recognition and playing one of our favourite games, ‘The Lunch Box Game.’
The children have also been beginning to develop their number sense when identifying who is in nursery today, by completing their 5 frames as they enter the Main Area.
As well as taking part in STEM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) such as exploring our sunflowers to share what we notice. The children seemed to really enjoy investigating the sunflower and its seeds.
Our Topic focus have been…
Continuing to develop our understanding of emotions, by creating emotion masks. We will also be talking about why someone may be sad and what makes us happy.

Literacy / Phonics: Aspect 5 – Alliteration
The children will be exploring the initial sounds of words by arranging a range of objects into groups of the following sounds, s,a,t,p,I,n. We will also be trying to create our very own alliterative story such as, Simon the snake, slide down the slide!

The children will also be using their talking conversation toy phones to develop their speech and listening skills, creating marks on their new light up mark making board, recording their favourite song on their sound buttons, and using their new dinosaur puppets to begin to interact imaginatively with their peers.

The children will be continuing to develop their number sense and use of 5 Frames when completing their self-registration task when starting their nursery day.
The children will be beginning to use Mathematical Language such as, ‘The 5 Frame is full or half full.”
Throughout their environment also, the children will be continuing to explore subsidising.
Our topic focus will be...
Using their new basketball hoop to have a go at throwing bean bags and balls into a target, exploring their emotions through use of emotion play dough rollers and using their ice bricks to construct a range of towers, houses and habitats, as well as developing their imaginative play through creating their very own train tracks.
