On Monday 5th September we will be celebrating Wonderland’s 28th Birthday!
The children will be having a special party tea, created by our fantastic Kitchen Team for their dinner on Monday evening.
September feels like it has crept up upon us, and with that in mind, please can we ask that all children have a jacket or coat with them at nursery to use during their morning garden play.
It is beginning to be a little chilly in the mornings!
We are pleased to announce the safe but early arrival of Amy Phillip’s baby girl into the world. Both Amy and her little girl are doing well. We are sure you will join us in sending lots of congratulations to Amy and Elliot. We can’t wait for lots of cuddles very soon!
Exploring a variety of stories this week which have puppets in. The Babies have particularly seemed to enjoy sharing the story, ‘Guess how much I love you.’ The Babies have also been exploring our Sensory Corner, their lovely bubble tube and sensory mirrors to play peek-a-boo!
During their messy play time, the Babies have also been exploring the crazy foam this week to explore different textures and to identify a range of hidden objects within the foam.
Next week we will be…….. Exploring the season Autumn when creating their very own leaf printings, exploring an Autumn tuff tray and developing their likes and dislikes whilst investigating and taking part in butternut squash play.
Getting messy this week! With lots of mark marking in their dinosaur world, painting, and searching for hidden animals within the shredded paper! The Toddlers have also been developing their finger muscles whilst exploring their cloud dough and having lots of fun having tea parties during their garden play. Finally, The Toddlers have also enjoyed lots of bubble play!
Next week we will be……
Exploring their sensory trays to develop their knowledge and confidence around different textures, having lots of water play, tipping, filling, and emptying containers as well as exploring the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
Creating some nature/natural bunting, painting and sticking to create their very own jelly fish, getting messy in the crazy foam sea tray as well as exploring and creating their very own space tray!
Our topic is – Following our children’s individual interests + helping our new friends settle in.
Our Phonics focus have been… Exploring how to recognise their name in a variety of ways, such as searching for their names within our sand tray, finding their own leaf during self-registration and placing their drawings and creations within their own tray.
During their story times the children have also been exploring the initial sound ‘s.’

Our Mathematical focus has been... Creating a variety of shapes using our elastic band peg boards and playing Uno with our friends!
As well as taking part in STEM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) such as exploring capacity using the Magic Sand!

Continuing to explore risky play throughout their garden play. The children have been using a variety of wooden planks and different sized tyres to create several different models, obstacle courses and of course pirate ships!
As well as building and creating a range of models using our Duplo and Lego blocks.

Our Phonics focus will be…
Literacy / Phonics: Aspect 3 – Body Percussion
The children will be singing a range of songs with actions to encourage body percussion throughout the song, such as ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,’ ‘If your happy and you know it.’
We will also be identifying a range of environmental sounds whilst playing sound lotto. Such as ‘snoring,’ ‘sneezing,’ ‘telephones ringing’ whilst practising to use our listening ears.

Our Mathematical focus will be…
Lots of the children continue to show interest in dinosaurs. Some of the children have even been to visit real dinosaur bones! So next week the children are going to create their very own shape dinosaurs as well as sharing the story 10 Little Dinosaurs!
Our topic focus will be...
Creating their very own Magic wands linked to the story of Room On The Broom!
Please could we ask, if you are going on any walks over the weekend to collect a range of sticks, conkers and acorns for the children to use and explore at nursery?
The children will also be creating their very own bubbling magic potions!
