Classification this week. Classification helps the children to identify what is to be counted. We have been doing this by separating animals into groups who live in the air, on the land and the water. The children’s Key Carers then asked the children questions such as what can we see? What do we notice?
Our Topic focus have been…..

As well as creating our very own crowns to celebrate the Queens 96th Birthday. The children have also been looking at pictures of the Royal Family and drawing pictures of them, as well as learning facts about Queen Elizabeth.
Within our Art’s and Craft Area the children have also been exploring fresh flowers in the water tray and painting observational pictures of the chicks using paintbrushes and our fingers to make marks.

Our Mathematical focus will be…
Continuing to explore our Sunflower Challenge. The 3-5’s children have been having a closer look at the world around them, to see how amounts of objects can be different. The children have been having a go at being able to recognise amounts without having to count them. This called subsidising and is a key part of understanding how numbers are made of different parts.
As well as exploring number in a range of ways. Such as numerals throughout our small world play and continuing to categories and create patterns with a range of gems, stones and buttons.
