We have several children who are poorly with temperatures and coughs recently here at Wonderland. As well as some of our Babies who have chest infections and a confirmed case of Bronchitis within our Toddler Age Group.
There are also children within the 2-3’s and 3-5s’s Age Group experiencing sickness and diarrhoea. Lastly, we have also had two staff members poorly with Covid-19 this week. If your child is unwell at nursery and is sick, has three episodes of diarrhoea or presents a temperature, we will ask them to be collected.
A big thank you to those Parents and Carers who are continuing to work in partnership with us here at Wonderland by following our Incubation Policy below.
All members of our team are responsible for promoting good health in the children attending wonderland. If a staff member suspects a child may have any of the above, or a reaction, allergy, or temperature then they must inform the Manager, Deputy Manager, or Third in Charge. They will be asked to fill out a temperature/illness monitoring form. the senior person will assess the illness and notify the parents. If an infectious illness is suspected, then we will ask parents to arrange for their child to be collected to seek medical advice and prevent the spread of infection.
Once an infectious illness has been confirmed with a medical professional then parents should contact the nursery. The Manager can then inform all parents about the illness and symptoms to look out for by email and by posters displayed at the main entrances. the child's name will remain confidential, but we will let parents know which age group has a confirmed infectious illness. If staff are pregnant or suspect they may be pregnant we would advise them to seek medical advice if they have been exposed to an infectious illness.
In the case of a large outbreak then the nursery manager would contact the relevant authorities (environmental health, health protection agency or Ofsted) to inform them of the outbreak and seek advice and information to control the infection. Ofsted must be informed if there are two or more cases of food poisoning confirmed in children who attend Wonderland Day Nursery.
Please can we ask that all children always have a named sunhat with them at nursery. The children explore the nursery gardens throughout the nursery day, when it is safe for them to do so, however we must ensure they are also wearing a sun hat and sun cream. Please can we ask that all children always have a named sunhat with them at nursery.
Exploring the sounds, a range of different instruments create, moving in a range of ways throughout their garden play and identifying the different parts of our bodies using the toy babies to help us.
The Babies also explored the seasons and the weather during their Signing Sam session this week.
Next week we will be…….. Taking part in sensory ball painting, exploring sensory bags and baskets as well as creating their very own dog pictures using paint, glitter and a variety of different textures.
The Toddlers have been enjoying their Signing Sam sessions this week. This week they focused on Autumn.
The Toddlers have also been exploring shapes and inset puzzles. The children have focused well on having a go at selecting the correct shapes to fit within their shape sorter. The children bounced back after difficulty well when their shapes did not quite fit within the space they originally thought. The Toddlers have also been continuing to explore how they can use brushes and their fingers to make marks within paint as well as listening brilliantly to instructions whilst creating their very own sensory bottles!
Next week we will be……
Continuing to develop their awareness of textures and different materials through their Heuristic Play baskets, exploring a variety of their story sacks to develop their vocabulary and listening skills, as well as playing ‘Roll The Tractor Game’ to develop the Toddlers social skills.
Exploring a range textured themed tuff trays this week, such as visiting the sea side! During their garden play, the 2-3’s have even opened their very own car wash. Lots of the 2-3’s children have also recently been showing an interest in sending letters and postcards, so they worked hard to create their very own Post Office within our Home Area. Finally, the children have also been identifying a range of insects and minibeasts within the nursery garden, so they made their very own play dough spiders!
