About

Our Ethos

At Wonderland, we adopt the philosophy that children learn through play. What makes us unique is that we have an open-plan setting and the keycarers take groups around each area to enable the children to experience a range of activities and so develop their understanding and knowledge.

During each session, children aged from 2 to 5 years will have time to fully explore the area during free play. They have the independence to select various activities they choose to carry out whilst being fully supervised.

The main benefits of this approach are:

Relationships Across the Nursery

Children have regular opportunities to see and interact with siblings, friends and cousins throughout the day, regardless of age group. This helps create a friendly, familiar atmosphere and supports the development of confident and independent children.

Smooth Transitions

Moving from one age group to the next is made as positive and reassuring as possible. Children are already familiar with their surroundings, peers and the Practitioners who will be supporting them, making the transition feel natural and unthreatening.

Learning Through Play

Our open-plan setting allows children to explore a wide range of play-based learning experiences. Key carers thoughtfully guide small groups through different areas of the nursery, enabling children to engage in varied activities that build their understanding and support all areas of development.

Developing Independence

In line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), key carers use their in-depth knowledge of each child to plan purposeful activities that support individual next steps, encouraging independence, confidence and a love of learning.
